"Dear
Gateway Members,
Yesterday we had the church service and memorial for our wonderful,
beautiful Rick. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever
done. But there was such a glow around all of us present, and Rick
seemed so alive, so there with us, that it became a transforming
experience.
The church was filled with the cast and crew from Babylon
5, many of whom hadn't seen each other since we stopped filming.
There were members from casts from all the shows Rick worked on.
He was so well loved by everyone. The church service, while beautiful,
was devastating. Seeing grief mirrored in the faces and bodies of
all those people, of each friend and colleague I hugged, brought
more grief, disbelief and a kind of helpless anger up in me. Yet,
letting all that out alowed us to move to the memorial with a kind
of cleansed feeling in our hearts.
We regathered at an outdoor theatre
Rick loved to perform in. One by one, folks got up and told all kinds
of stories about him. Jason started us off with fabulous stories
of his best friend that made us just howl with laughter. His family
spoke, about the young boy, always funny, protective, confident and
loving. I learned so much about Rick, from his incredible family
and friends who shared memories with all those gathered. He was even
more amazing than I had known. And I could see where he got it, from
his sisters and his parents, the strong bond running through all
his family.
He was with us all afternoon and evening. I know he was.
I shared all the e-mails you sent in. I was printing them out as they came in
and put them in a notebook right up untill I had to leave for the church.
His family loved the book of messages you sent in . They were amazed at all the
countries all over the world represented there. Your words are with them now.
Thank you from them for your thoughtfulness.
Richard James Biggs II got a grand send off from his family, friends and
fans. He is living on in all our hearts.
love,
Pat "
