by Wayne Kramer. Kramer, who last directed The Cooler and whose follow-up, Running Scared, opens Feb. 24, will produce EVILSEEK
with Michael Pierce through their True Grit Productions banner. Kramer has committed to make the film his next directing assignment,
and the plan is to shoot later this year. Jane will play a cop so demoralized by the handiwork of a serial killer that he commits suicide.
Satan uses the cop's body as a vessel, inheriting a disgruntled ex-wife, a promiscuous 15-year-old daughter, a lesbian partner and
some of the cop's dogged determination to catch the killer.

SEQUELS PLANNED
Variety reports that Warner Brothers is already planning sequels to BATMAN BEGINS and SUPERMAN RETURNS, with
respective helmers Christopher Nolan and Bryan Singer in line to return, though the latter film doesn't open until June 30.
While neither director's deal is closed yet, the studio has hired Jonah Nolan, Christopher's brother, to pen the screenplay
for the as-yet-untitled Batman sequel. Warner has options on Batman Begins star Christian Bale and Superman Returns
star Brandon Routh. The next installment in the Caped Crusader franchise is further along in the process, since BATMAN
BEGINS was released last summer. Legendary Pictures, which put up half the financing for both BATMAN BEGINS and
SUPERMAN RETURNS, is expected to board the sequels and split the budgets 50-50 with Warner. In return, Legendary
would split all profits. The Batman sequel is eyed for 2008 and the Superman follow-up for 2009.
MASTERS OF SCIENCE FICTION
According to Variety, ABC has given a green light to the SF anthology TV series MASTERS OF SCIENCE FICTION, which will
present works of well-known authors such as Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov. IDT Entertainment and Industry Entertainment,
which produced the 13-episode anthology Masters of Horror for Showtime, are behind the science fiction version as well.
ABC has ordered four episodes, but IDT and Industry plan to go ahead and produce at least six episodes and as many as 13.
Writer Michael Tolkin (The Rapture) is already on board to adapt and direct an episode, while the producers are also in talks
to produce works such as Harlan Ellison's "The Discarded" and Asimov's "The Last Question." IDT and Industry also hope to
sign Bradbury to adapt his "Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed." Morris Berger, Steve Brown and John Hyde will executive-
produce for IDT, as will Industry's Keith Addis, Brad Mendelsohn and Andrew Deane. IDT and Industry hope to start production
on MASTERS OF SCIENCE FICTION in Vancouver this May. The producers said they can start delivering the series to ABC by the
middle of June, making a summer launch a possibility. The project is targeted to air in the 2006-07 TV season.
NEXT
NEXT, an SF action thriller based on the Philip K. Dick novel The Golden Man, is set to star Jessica Biel (Stealth) with Nicolas
Cage and Julianne Moore. Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) is directing, from a Gary Goldman script. Cage will play a man
who can see the future and alter its course. Biel will play his love interest, whom he has to save from terrorists. He's on the
run from the FBI, which wants to use him to prevent a global terrorist threat. Cage, Todd Garner, Norm Golightly, Graham
King and Arne Schmidt are producing NEXT.
NEW AQUAMAN
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the CW network's untitled AQUAMAN pilot has a new leading man: Justin Hartley, who
replaces Will Toale in a major recasting. "Will is a talented actor with a promising career, and we hope to work with him in the
future," a CW spokesman said. "We have made the decision to go in a different direction with the Aquaman role and wish him
the best of luck in all of his endeavors." Hartley is best known for his role on NBC's daytime drama Passions. The news comes
a day after Ving Rhames and Denise Quinones were cast in the pilot. The decision is apparently related to the merger between UPN
and Warner Bros. TV networks.
