Carrie Dobro, originally from New York City, is best known to the SF community for her leading role in the Babylon 5 spin-off series Crusade. As Dureena Nafeel, the thieving sole survivor of her race, she called upon her extensive theatrical background to create the cunning, lethal character with a heart of gold, Dureena. Her first foray into sci-fi was as a series regular on the show Hypernauts for ABC. Her character, Kulai, was also the sole survivor of her race and their high Chalam or spiritual leader. She has guest-starred on numerous television shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Nightstand, Claude's Crib, Babylon 5, Townies, Silk Stalkings, The Young and the Restless and the pilots Simon Says What, Soap Soup, Purely Platonic and Marty.

Breakout to name a few. A two-time DramaLogue Award winner for acting,
Ms. Dobro has appeared in over 50 stage productions, Off Broadway, in
regional theatres across the country and in Los Angeles. She has performed
in every genre, from Shakespeare to farce to heavy drama. An accomplished
Improv performer, she has appeared in various comedy clubs in New York
City and at The Improv, The Comedy Store and The Ice House in Los Angeles.
Her most challenging Improv experience was the totally improvised musical
"Anything You Say," which she performed Off-Broadway on Theatre
Row.
Originally a visual artist, Carrie studied painting and drawing at The
Camberwell School of Art in London and received her BFA from Carnegie-Mellon
University in Pittsburgh. After several successful art shows, Carrie went
back to her first love, the theatre. She studied acting in New York with
Stella Adler, Terry Schrieber and Wynn Handman, and classically with Aida
Brown Mether, a teacher from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.
She received a full dance scholarship with Broadway Dance and the Nat
Horne Company, both in Manhattan, and spent many years kicking up her
heels.
She currently lives in Los Angeles where she has started her own production
company with her husband writer/director Mark Ciglar.
